The beginnings of Mona Lisa lie in the company “Homesteel-Achel”, which exclusively produced around ten million units of the Multiload® IUD for the global market from 1980 to 1996. The results of all existing clinical trials on Multiload® IUDs are thus based on products from Homesteel-Achel/Mona Lisa.
Mona Lisa N.V. has been developing its own line of copper intrauterine devices since 1996, whereby the name Mona Lisa N.V. is based on the name of the Multiload® copper intrauterine devices, often shortened to “ML”.
